Delinquency Prevention Specialist
Duty Summary:
Under the direction of the Youth Center Director provides delinquency prevention service program funded by State of Illinois Department of Human Services and the Aurora Township to youths 12 to 17 years of age who have committed a delinquency offense(s). The goal of the program is to divert youths from further involvement in Juvenile Justice System. Youths participate in the program of a six month period.
Incumbent performs individual mentoring and group sessions. Involves youth’s families, school administrators and counselors as well as local service agencies in individual youth’s planned program. Makes appropriate referrals to local sources. Manages cases, enters data into data bank using e-Cornerstone software, and recruits program participants from various sources. Incumbent performs other duties as assigned and appropriate to the title and the function of the position.
Position Requirements (minimum)
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related concentration. Social Service experience preferred. Basic skills in the use of information technology. Operational knowledge of data entry software: e-Corner stone preferred. Analytical and problem solving skills in a multi-task environment. Familiarity with local social service and governmental agencies preferred.
