Township Board
Meetings of the Aurora Township Board of Trustees are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at the Township Office at 4:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

James R. Murphy, SupervisorJim Murphy is a life long resident of Aurora and has lived on both the east and west side of town. Jim attended OLGC grade school, Marmion Military Academy, and West Aurora High School. He completed a BA degree in English and History at the University of Illinois-Urbana. He obtained his law degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and joined his father in the general practice of law in Aurora in 1981. Jim practices in various areas of law, including employment law, municipal law, real estate, personal injury, family law, estate planning and elder law. Jim has served or serves on the boards of the Aurora Family YMCA, Tekakwitha Woods Advisory Board, Communities in Schools, Aurora Cares Corp., Aurora Funders Consortium and the Funders Healthcare Committee and has volunteered at Hesed House and Holy Angels School. Jim has helped coach both boys and girls basketball and he continues to run with the Legends on Friday nights. He lives in Aurora with wife Mary, daughter Katy and son Jamie. |

John Shoemaker, TrusteeJohn Shoemaker is a lifelong resident of Aurora Township. He lives in North Aurora with his wife Sue and their two sons Mark and Will. John is a registered nurse at Rush Copley in the Angiogram Suite. He graduated from Aurora University after starting at Waubonsee Community College. John is an avid golfer and enjoys fishing in the Fox River for small mouth. He volunteers, coaches for the Fox Valley Park District soccer program and the North Aurora Baseball Association. |

Monica M. Silva, D.C., TrusteeDr. Silva attended high school at Aurora Central Catholic, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. While at Aurora University, she majored in pre medicine and was a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Vice President, and later President of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Societies. She obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences, where she is now a clinician. She currently pursues training to become a licensed acupuncturist. She has extensive community service experience. I feel that if we attempt to provide our children a healthy community in which to grow, the community may, in turn provide them with support and positive environmental structure. Dr. Silva is a member of the Aurora Republican Women and is on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Students Resource Council. Dr. Silva and her husband Edgar have two boys, Alexander and Daniel. They are members of St. Therese Parish, where the couple volunteers in the Religious education department. In her free time, Dr. Silva enjoys spending time with her family, reading and art appreciation. Topics of interest include Middle Eastern culture and history, and Impressionism. The April 2005 election proved historical for the Township of Aurora, as there had never been a Hispanic female elected to the Board. |

Annie Craig, TrusteeAnnie Craig hails originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up along the Eastern Seaboard, but is very proud to call Aurora home. She has a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology and is an accomplished Fitness Professional, as well as a marathon runner and a charity walker. Annie is very active in the Democratic Party and has worked on the many campaigns, most notably Illinois State Representative Linda Chapa-Lavia and Aurora Mayor, Tom Weisner. She is deeply concerned about quality of life issues for seniors and at risk children. Her most prized accomplishment is that of her family, wonderful husband Frank, and three amazing children, Molly, Teagan, and Maggie. |

Christina Campos, TrusteeChristina C. Campos is a long- life resident of Aurora Township. She attended elementary, middle and high school in East Aurora School District. She has an Associate Degree from Waubonsee Community College and A Bachelor Degree from Judson College. Christina currently works for the Girl Scouts- Fox Valley Council as a Membership Specialist. She is married to Javier and they have twin daughters, Miriam and Marisela and a yellow Lab Preciosa. Christina serves on the Board of Directors and is the secretary for the Aurora Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She was the past chair for the City of Aurora, Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board and is currently serving as a board member. Christina is serving her first term as an Aurora Township Trustee. |

Mr. Juan R. Thomas, ClerkJuan was born and raised in Aurora and attended West Aurora schools. He has degrees from Morehouse College, the University of Illinois College of Law, and the University of Illinois College of Education and is completing another masters degree from the University of Chicago. Currently, he has a law practice in Aurora. At the age of 25, Juan became the youngest person ever elected to the West Aurora School Board and the first African-American to be re-elected to the board where he served as Chairman of the school districts personnel committee. He served as Labor Counsel to Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and has also practiced law in the areas of real estate, labor and employment, family law and governmental relations. Juan currently serves as the minister of the Young Adult Ministry at St. John AME Church in Aurora and is the former Youth Pastor at Progressive Baptist Church in Aurora. He is a member of and serves on the boards of many civic and community organizations. Juan is the son of Larry Thomas, owner of LTS Restaurant in Aurora and Wanda Thomas, Vice President of the Association of Individual Development in Aurora. |
